Der Name der Rasse stammt von dem Wort Birmanie, der franz\u00f6sischen Form von Burma, einem Land in S\u00fcdostasien (heute Mianmar).<\/p>

Es gibt keine eindeutigen Aufzeichnungen \u00fcber die Urspr\u00fcnge der Rasse, aber es gibt einige faszinierende Legenden \u00fcber sie.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Viele Geschichten stimmen darin \u00fcberein, dass die Birmas heilige Katzen der Tempel in Nordburma waren, die den Kittah-Priestern Gesellschaft leisteten. Einer alten Legende zufolge geht die F\u00e4rbung der Birmas auf eine blau\u00e4ugige G\u00f6ttin, Tsun Kyan Kse (oder Tsun Kiang Seth), zur\u00fcck, die die G\u00f6ttin der Reinkarnation war. Diese Geschichte besagt, dass die urspr\u00fcnglichen W\u00e4chterkatzen des Tempels von Lao Tsun ein langes wei\u00dfes Fell und gelbe Augen hatten. Eines Tages wurde der Tempel angegriffen und der Hauptpriester wurde verletzt. Seine treue Katze ber\u00fchrte seinen K\u00f6rper im Moment seines Todes und die gelben Augen der wei\u00dfen Katze wurden pl\u00f6tzlich tiefblau, genau wie die Augen der Tempelg\u00f6ttin. Ihr Fell bekam einen goldenen Farbton und das Gesicht, die Beine und der Schwanz nahmen die Farbe der Erde an, bis auf die Spitze der Pfoten, wo die Katze den K\u00f6rper des Priesters ber\u00fchrte, dieser wei\u00dfe Teil symbolisiert die Reinheit. Pl\u00f6tzlich verwandelten sich alle Tempelkatzen in diese Farbe und diese wundersame Ver\u00e4nderung verwirrte die Angreifer und sie verlie\u00dfen den Tempel sofort.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Eine andere Version der gleichen Legende besagt, dass im Moment des Todes des Priesters, als die Katze ihn ber\u00fchrte, die Seele des Geistes der G\u00f6ttin von der Katze Besitz ergriff und ihre Farbe ver\u00e4nderte. Die Pfoten, in die der Geist eindrang, blieben wei\u00df.<\/p>

Es gibt auch Geschichten, die behaupten, dass diese Legenden erst erfunden wurden, nachdem die Rasse in Europa als Kreuzung zwischen Siam und Persern entstanden war.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Die ersten Birmakatzen<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Sicher ist, dass die Rasse - basierend auf dokumentierten Aufzeichnungen - erstmals 1925 vom Cat Club de France anerkannt wurde. Die Rasse erhielt den Namen Sacre de Birmanie.<\/p>

Wie die ersten Katzen nach Frankreich kamen und wie die Zucht begann, ist ebenfalls unklar.<\/p>

Unter den verschiedenen Geschichten gibt es eine, die von den meisten Historikern akzeptiert zu werden scheint. Diese Geschichte besagt, dass 2 Tempelkatzen an einen amerikanischen Reisenden namens Vanderbuilt gegeben wurden, der die Katzen nach Frankreich verschiffte. Der Kater starb unterwegs, aber das Weibchen kam an und brachte einen Wurf zur Welt. Eines der K\u00e4tzchen wurde Poupee de Madalpour genannt und war im Besitz von Frau Leotardi, die ihre Katze 1926 an einer Ausstellung pr\u00e4sentierte.<\/p>

Einigen Aufzeichnungen zufolge wurde Poupee mit einer laotischen Lynx-Katze verpaart, die einer Siamkatze \u00e4hnelte und sehr blaue Augen hatte. Eines dieser K\u00e4tzchen wurde ausgew\u00e4hlt, um weiter gez\u00fcchtet zu werden. Ihr Name war Manou de Madalpour und sie wurde mit einer Siamkatze gekreuzt. Sp\u00e4ter stellte sich heraus, dass die Laotische Lynx eigentlich auch eine Siamkatze war, denn es gibt keine spezifische laotische Katze, sie wurde aufgrund der aktuellen politischen Situation zwischen Frankreich und Siam einfach Laotisch genannt.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The first documented top Birman breeder, Baudoin-Crevoisier investigated years long to find out the origins of the breed but he only found even more uncertainties, for example even the existence of Mme Leotardi had to be questioned. In addition to this, most of the documentation of the breed vanished during the 2nd world war. Unfortunately also the cats almost vanished and the breed had to be rebuilt.<\/p>\n

The two cats that survived the war and became the ancestors of nowadays Birmans were Orloff and Xenia de Kaabaa and they belonged to Baudoin-Crevoisier. These cats had to be outcrossed with long hair breeds until in 1955 the Birman breed was finally restored and registered in England by the Governing Council of the Cat Fancy (GCCF) in 1966 and in the United States by the Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA) in 1967.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Die erste Birma tauchte 1933 in Deutschland auf. Ihr Name war Timour de Madalapour. W\u00e4hrend des 2. Weltkriegs verschwand die Rasse auch in Deutschland fast vollst\u00e4ndig. Dann wurde die Rasse in den 1960er Jahren durch eine weibliche Katze namens Nadine de Khlaramour aus Frankreich wiederbelebt, deren Nachkommen in der ganzen Welt verbreitet wurden.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
