Litter D was born

But who is the father?

Since the hormonal chip Theodor received last year—to give him a break from the constant urge to find females—is lasting much longer than expected, I had to find another partner for the girls. It’s not unusual for the hormonal chip to last longer than anticipated; it affects every cat differently. Some males bounce back within six months, while others may take two to three years.

Finding a suitable male available for external matings is no easy task. There are many factors to consider—and in Missie’s case, I also had to account for the possibility that she might not conceive with unfamiliar males. That’s exactly what happened in 2023, when I took her to a male three times and she was so stressed she didn’t get pregnant. Then in 2024, at home with Theodor, there were no issues at all.

After careful consideration, we visited Backkara’s Valentino—a male with Swedish origins (just like Missie)—who lives about an hour away from us. Valentino is a blue tabby point with a lovely profile, short nose, well-set ears and eyes, and a sweet, innocent expression.

To my great surprise, Missie accepted him right away. Must be the common language 😀 Heureka!

The triplets arrived

The pregnancy went smoothly, and Missie delivered right on time as expected: the 22nd of April. The three little ones arrived without any issues: the little girl came first, slightly smaller in weight, followed by the two boys weighing in strong at 90 and 100 grams.

Missie is a wonderful mum, and it’s truly heart-melting to see how much she’s enjoying being a mum this time. Last year, I had the impression she wasn’t particularly impressed with the whole “motherhood” project, but now, she really seems loving it.

The first week

Now, the first week has passed and the kittens are going great. The little girl doubled her weight by day 7, and the boys caught up by day 8, also doubling theirs. The tips of their ears have already started to show hints of color.

I can’t wait to see if they are blue points or blue tabbies!
